Our History

BACKGROUND OF VOICELESS ORPHAN TASKFORCE UGANDA (VOTU) INTRODUCTION: The Voiceless Orphan Taskforce Uganda (VOTU) is duly registered with the NGO Board as a National Non-Governmental Organization, Reg. No. S.5914/5211, TIN No 1000338414. MISSION STATEMENT To support the marginalised groups such as women, vulnerable children and youth through education by self sustenance. ACTIVITIES Its activities are mainly concentrated in Butambala District, but it desires to cover the rest of Uganda. It is indigenous, non-denominational and does not segregate on the basis of sex or creed. Our objective is to provide what GOD requires us to do to mankind more especially the OVCs. It is a culmination of the fruition of the local sons of the area who sought to improve their society in a more effective and meaningful way. We provide the following core activities:-

  • Education sponsorship
  • Mobilization and sensitization
  • Counseling about AIDS/HIV
  • Water and sanitation
  • Local Capacity Building (UPE/USE schools)

LOCATION

VOTU is situated at Ngando village, Ngando Sub-county, Butambala County, Butambala District of Uganda. Ngando TC Village, Budinse Memorial School administrative Block, Room 2. Kampala office: Plot 8 luwum Street, Universal Hse.

Main office is about 80 kilometers from Kampala city. On Kampala-Masaka Road at 44 kilometers off Mitala-Maria trading center, you turn to Murrum but motorable road leading you to Bulo Trading center and finally to Ngando Trading center about 35 kilometers from Mitala Maria. The other alternative route is through Kampala to Kayabwe on Masaka road, a distance of about 72 kilometers. Then turn off through Nkozi University and finally to Ngando Trading Center 25 km away, on a murrum but motorable roads. Ngando is astride the Equator.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               AFFILIATIONS:

  • GGP- JAPAN (Butambala water hygiene and sanitation improvement project)
  • Mild May Uganda (provision of supplementary food, agricultural and educational support to families having  children affected or infected with HIV/ AIDS)
BENEFICIARIES VOTU is supervising a number of beneficiaries who directly receive help and sponsorship.  These are mostly children under the age of 18 who are either orphans, vulnerable or People suffering with AIDS/HIV.   We also consider the homes where these children hail from and the guardians are our indirect beneficiaries.  OVCYs are 120 as direct beneficiaries while the indirect are around 65,330. VOTU is set up of The AGMA (Annual General Meeting Assembly) on the Top, Board of Governors, Board of trustees, Administration, General Secretary and finally projects divisions.
